GREEN LIVING TIP
If the weather's right....consider giving the treadmill a rest and taking your walking or jogging routine outdoors. A 25 percent shift in time on the treadmill to time outside would conserve about 60 kilowatt-hours of energy per year. If an additional 10 percent of Americans who walk as their number one form of physical activity walked outside instead of indoors, it would save as much energy as it would take to drive a car 40,000 miles. Put another way, that's the total distance the contestants on the Amazing Race travel around the world throughout the series.
